U.S. Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal scheduled a hearing for Nov. 29 on whether Beresford-Redman should be granted bail pending an extradition proceeding.
Beresford-Redman was arrested without incident at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes Tuesday night, suspected of murdering his wife in Cancun.
Mexican authorities released new details about the murder case Tuesday evening.
In April, Beresford-Redman and his wife Monica went to Cancun, Mexico, where they vacationed at the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort.
Mexican officials said the couple was having marital problems and that Monica had caught Beresford-Redman having an affair.
Workers and guests at the resort reported hearing the couple fighting the night of Monica's murder, now Mexican officials are saying they found blood evidence in the couple's room.
Bruce maintains that Monica went shopping and never returned.
Monica's body was found on April 8 outside the resort hotel. She had been beaten and strangled. The hotel's electronic lock system showed the door to the couple's room was opened and closed at least 11 times that night.
In early June, an arrest warrant was issued in Mexico for Beresford-Redman, as he was the key suspect in his wife's killing.
Legal experts say the case against Beresford-Redman must be fairly solid for U.S. officials to take action.
"The U.S. government has reviewed the extradition package presented by Mexico, and they've decided that there's enough evidence to hold him as a person subject to extradition," said James Blancarte, a legal analyst. "That means that the evidence is sufficiently compelling to think that he is a person guilty of the crimes accused in Mexico."
Monica Beresford-Redman's family has always felt that Bruce was responsible for Monica's murder and have been very outspoken about their suspicions.
"The Burgos family is relieved to learn tonight that Bruce Beresford-Redman has been taken into federal custody. However, they know that this is not the end in their quest for justice for their sister Monica and are prepared to pursue this horrific tragedy to the end," said a statement released by the Burgos family attorney Alison Triessl.
The Burgos family was expected to attend Wednesday's extradition hearing.
Bruce Beresford-Redman was a producer for several episodes of the Emmy-nominated CBS reality show "Survivor," including "The Amazon" and "Marquesas" seasons, but was not currently working with the program, according to his profile on IMDb.com. IMDB also names him as the co-creator of "Pimp My Ride," a popular MTV car makeover show.
