OTRC: Mr. Moviefone reviews 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,' 'The Next Three Days'

Happy weekend everybody! The most anticipated movie of the holiday season hits theaters as an epic final battle is drawing near in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I."

The hugely popular franchise grows ever darker and more grim, as Harry and his friends are on their own to search out and destroy the hidden pieces of Voldemort's soul that are the key to his power.

All the while, terror reigns over the wizarding world as death eaters seize the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort's minions have one mission only: capture the "Chosen One" for the ultimate faceoff.

The Reel Deal: really, there's very little middle ground here. You're either a Potter-head or a Potter pooper. Even though it's too long yet oddly only half a movie, the legions of Potter-heads will be happy with this dark, menacing build-up to the big finale. I'm in.

Next, Russell Crowe is planning an elaborate prison break in "The Next Three Days."

Crowe's wife, played by Elizabeth Banks, is arrested and convicted of a murder she didn't commit. After exhausting all appeals, Crowe takes matters into his own hands, concocting an elaborate plan to bust his wife out of prison.

Also appearing are Liam Neeson, Brian Dennehy, Olivia Wilde. The movie is directed by Paul Haggis.

The Reel Deal: at 2 hours plus, "The Next Three Days" feels drawn out and three days long. And with a director like Haggis and a cast like Crowe, Neeson, Banks and Wilde, it's a disappointment. It's not bad, it's just not that good. Wait for the DVD. I'm out.
