Jennifer Grey says she suffers from stage fright before every "Dancing With the Stars" performance and that she finds her strength by looking at her daughter, as the "Dirty Dancing" actress and series frontrunner prepares for the season 11 finale on Tuesday.
The ABC ballroom dancing contest series is down to three contestants - Grey, actor Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin, daughter of Republican politician Sarah Palin. On Monday night, Grey, 50, and partner Derek Hough earned a perfect score from the judges for both of their dances and have garnered the highest marks out of all the contestants throughout the season.
"Every time I perform, I've been so sick with nerves, with so much stage fright," Jennifer Grey told George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OnTheRedcarpet.com's parent company. "My husband always says, 'Why are you doing this?' and I say, 'To show my daughter how to walk through fear and how to do what makes you happy, even if it scares you.'"
Grey is married to actor and director Clark Gregg and their daughter Stella is 8 years old.
"I look at her face before I perform, every time," Grey said. "I've never performed once before looking at her and remembering why I'm here."
