NC motel prank prompts several 911 calls

November 25, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Guests at a Spartanburg County, South Carolina, hotel didn't have a peaceful stay after a strange prank. Police said someone claiming to be hotel management called a room and convinced the guest to throw his TV outside and break all the mirrors to get rid of cameras planted by the previous guest.

The caller also convinced the man to start breaking through the walls to free a person barricaded in the room next door, prompting several 911 calls because of the ruckus.

"We have an emergency in room 107. We have a crazy maniac man. He's throwing out TVs, busting up walls and everything. Can you please have someone here?" said one woman in a 911 call.

According to the Motel 6 corporate office, the prank had occurred at other locations in the past.
