New evidence revealed in Waters ethics case

November 26, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
More information has been released about the recently discovered email that forced the postponement of Los Angeles Congresswoman Maxine Waters' ethics trial, which was originally scheduled to begin Monday. The Democratic congresswoman is accused of steering federal bailout money to a bank in which her husband owned stock.

The email by Waters' chief of staff said Waters was closely watching the writing of bailout legislation that included a provision to help minority-owned banks.

But OneUnited Bank, where Waters' husband held stock, wasn't mentioned.

A key question is whether Waters instructed her chief of staff to get help for OneUnited.

The trial has been postponed indefinitely.
