The daughter of a murdered police officer who worked on his days off to provide more for his family said she'd give it all back for one more day with him.

Margaret "Peg" Flisk spoke at her father's funeral Wednesday. Chicago Police Officer Michael Flisk was killed Friday while processing a burglary scene on the city's South Side. He is the sixth Chicago police officer to be killed this year, the fifth killed in the line of duty.

More than 1,000 mourners gathered at St. Rita's Church for Officer Flisk's funeral. The 20-year veteran officer was remembered as a hero who lived for his family and the city of Chicago. He is survived by his wife and four children. His only daughter, Peg Flisk, a Marquette University student, spoke for the grieving family.

"My father would help anyone. On his days off, [he would] work to provide the extra things we wanted, but I would give it all back just to have one more day with my dad ... to tell the world's greatest dad one last time how much I loved him," said Peg Flisk. "He will always be deeply missed and will never be forgotten."

Officer Flisk and former CHA officer Stephen Peters were shot to death last Friday. Officer Flisk, an evidence technician, was gathering evidence from a burglary at Peters' mother's home. Timothy Herring, 19, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

"You heard from his wonderful family, his family, his church, his friends, the Chicago Police Department," Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley said after the service. "He gave his life on behalf of the city of Chicago. God bless Michael. We will pray for his family."

"It is a sad day for the Chicago Police Department. It is a sad day for the city of Chicago but it is also a day to recognize the tremendous contribution that Michael Flisk gave not only to the city and the department but to his family," Police Supt. Jody Weis said.

Peters' funeral is set for Saturday.
