Jim Carrey says Ewan McGregor, who plays his character's gay lover in the new R-rated comedy drama movie "I Love You Phillip Morris", is a great kisser.
In the film, which is based on a true story, Carrey plays a Texas con man Steven Russell. McGregor plays Phillip Morris, his fellow inmate in prison. The two fall for one another and Russell escapes from jail several times to reunite with him. "I Love You Phillip Morris" hits theaters on Friday.
"I have to say, he is a great kisser," Carrey told Parade magazine. "As Ewan said, 'When you're kissing another guy it can get a little prickly.' Actually, you had to put out of your mind your own sexual preference and just try to understand that you were loving another person who just happens to be a guy. It wasn't about male or female, love is love."
Both actors are heterosexual in real life. Carrey most recently dated actress Jenny McCarthy from 2005 to early 2010. McGregor, a Scottish actor who has starred in movies such as "Trainspotting" and "Moulin Rouge!", has been married to wife Eve since 1995. They have three children.
Carrey, known mostly for comedy blockbusters such as "Ace Ventura", "The Mask" and "Bruce Almighty", said that he took a "salary cut" to star in "I Love You Phillip Morris".
"There are very few scripts that I would come across that I would pay to do and this was one of them," he told Parade. "I didn't mind taking a big salary cut. I'm here to do extreme and interesting things. I liked the guy I played and I hated him. But the one thing that always stayed with me was the idea that he was relentless about love, and all of us understand that. I'm a desperate man myself."
