White House tree decked w/all the trimmings

WASHINGTON The centerpiece of Christmas at the /*White House*/ is the official tree, which is one of 19 trees in public areas of the building.

The 18.5-foot Douglas fir is anchored to the Blue Room ceiling to keep it from tipping over.

It's decorated with prize ribbons from each state and territory.

Officials say it took less than a week to transform the White House into a Christmas wonderland.

Nearly 100 volunteer decorators from around the country flew into town and began working on the decorations the day after thanksgiving.
