Amber Heard, who stars with Nicolas Cage in the new film "Drive Angry 3D", recently came out publicly as gay.
The 24-year-old actress introduced her girlfriend, Tasya van Ree, a 34-year-old artist and photographer, at the "GLAAD at 25" event in Los Angeles on Friday. Other attendees included Chaz Bono, singer Cher's 41-year-old transgendered son who was born a girl.
"I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out," Heard told the website AfterEllen.com, calling van Ree "so beautiful" and adding: "You'd have to be crazy not to want to go out with her."
Van Ree recently directed an online video that features Heard driving a car to a graveyard while wearing a black gown and sunglasses, as the song "Quelqu'un m'a dit" by First Lady of France Carla Burni is played. The track appeared on the soundtrack of the 2009 romantic drama movie "(500) Days of Summer". Heard does not appear in the film.
Van Ree posted the clip on YouTube in late November. "Drive Angry 3D", an action film that tells of a father who hunts down the men who killed his daughter, is set for release on Feb. 25, 2011.
Heard has also starred in movies such as the 2008 comedy "Pineapple Express" with Seth Rogen and James Franco as well as the 2009 film "Zombieland" with "The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg and "Spider-Man" newbie "Emma Stone".
