Judges removes self from Jackson taping case

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Soussan Brugera said she wanted to avoid any appearance of impropriety.

In 2008, Brugera awarded $20 million to two attorneys who claimed now-defunct Xtrajet and its owner, Jeffrey Borer, violated their privacy during in 2003 flight when they and Jackson were videotaped.

The judgment was overturned on appeal but one lawyer filed for a retrial rather than accept a much smaller award.

The trial is set to begin Feb. 14.
