OTRC: Elisabeth Hasselbeck wins plagiarism lawsuit over 'G-Free Diet' book

Elisabeth Hasselbeck appears on ABC talk show 'The View' on Dec. 2, 2010.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck's legal troubles over her book, "The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide," came to an end on Monday after a judge in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts - where the lawsuit was filed - found no evidence of plagiarism, according to to The Huffington Post.

"The View" co-host had been accused by author Susan Hassett of copying passages from her 2008 self-published book on celiac disease, which was also the subject of Hasselbeck's book. Hasset claimed she sent Hasselbeck the book, and after "The View" co-host published her book in 2009, Hasset sued her for plagiarism.

According to the website, Hasselbeck's lawyer, Orin Snyder, said in a statement that the decision was "a complete victory. It confirms that Elisabeth wrote her best-selling book 'The G-Free Diet' based on her own personal experiences and did not copy a thing from the plaintiff." He added, "We are grateful that the federal court fully vindicated Elisabeth, seeing through this misguided lawsuit."

This was Hasset's second time in court with Hasselbeck over the book. Her first lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in 2009 after Hassett's attorney declined to pursue it.
