Student sues UCLA, attacker in stabbing case

WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES Katherine Rosen said /*UCLA*/ officials failed to warn students that Damon Thompson, 21, was potentially violent despite months of reports about his paranoid and threatening behavior.

Authorities said Thompson stabbed Rosen five times with a kitchen knife in October of 2009. She spent 10 days in the hospital.

Thompson was found not guilty by reason of insanity last month and sent to a mental hospital.

A UCLA spokesman said the school could not have predicted the attack and isn't liable.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
