Piers Morgan, a British television show host set to replace Larry King in January, says Madonna is banned from his new program.
Morgan, a 45-year-old former tabloid newspaper editor and judge on NBC reality series "America's Got Talent", made his remarks to the UK newspaper The Daily Express at a recent party in London to celebrate his new CNN job.
"She is so boring," the publication quoted Morgan as saying. "She is too vegan for TV. We have Lady Gaga now so Madonna is banned from my show."
A source close to Morgan confirmed his comments to OnTheRedCarpet.com. Madonna, 52, is one of the world's most successful pop stars who was named No. 5 on Forbes' list of Hollywood's highest-earning women earlier this year."Madonna is not a vegan and I don't see boring as a word to describe her," Madonna's spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "As far as her being banned from Piers' new show, we can only hope and pray Madonna can survive such a terrible blow to her career."
Madonna had the highest grossing tour of 2009, has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and recently launched a chain of fitness centers set to open in cities around the world.
It was announced in September that Morgan would replace King. The 77-year-old host said in June he would end "Larry King Live" after 25 years.
Morgan has said that the people he would like to interview on his new show include President Barack Obama, actors Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan or "whoever is in the news who is relevant and current."
Gibson has made international headlines due to an ugly custody battle with his ex-girlfriend, which spurred the leak of what is said to be a racist, sexist and explicit phone conversation between the two. Lohan has been in and out of jail over the past year over 2007 drunken driving and drug possession charges.
