'Tis the season for a SoCal holiday heat wave

CHATSWORTH, Calif. It's December and temperatures were in the mid 80s across much of the Southland on Sunday.

The Santa Ana winds are partly to thank for Sunday's blue skies and dry desert air.

But keep that sweater handy, because a cool down is on the way.

Drizzle is expected Wednesday with temps in the mid 60s in Los Angeles and Orange County. There is a 20 percent chance of showers Thursday and a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday.

The valleys and Inland Empire will also see temps in the 60s, Wednesday through Saturday with a chance of drizzle and even rain.

Some said they didn't mind cooler weather.

"It's kind of weird," said Chatsworth resident Cindy Mora. "I would expect it to be really cold. But I guess this was nice weather for today."

Some transplants to Los Angeles find it hard to believe.

"I'm actually from Pittsburgh and Buffalo, so 80-degree weather here is a little unusual," said Lee Gordon of Granada Hills. "With the Christmas spirit with other people, you start to feel it."
