The teaser trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was released on Monday and the first glimpses of Captain Jack Sparrow's latest adventure include more pirates, mermaids and an extremely feisty Penelope Cruz.
"In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past, and he's not sure if it's love -- or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth," Walt Disney Pictures said in an earlier statement.
"When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard, Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more - Blackbeard or the woman from his past," it said.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" began production in June and will be released on May 20, 2011 and in 3D. Johnny Depp is reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush returns as Captain Hector Barbossa.
However, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, who played pirate Will Turner and his love Elizabeth Swann in the previous three movies, will not appear in leads roles for the fourth installment, according to reports.
Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz will play Sparrow's love interest and the daughter of the pirate Blackbeard, portrayed by Ian McShane of "Deadwood" fame.
The first three films in the series have grossed more than $2.7 billion worldwide.
