Chicago native Jennifer Hudson will use her talents to help Rahm Emanuel raise funds for his mayoral campaign in the singer's hometown.

Hudson will star in a special performance on behalf of the campaign according to The Chicago Sun-Times. According to the paper, Hudson met Emanuel at a White House performance in February to celebrate the civil rights movement.

The performance will take place on January 10th at the House of Blues in Chicago. It was also recently revealed that Hudson will perform on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve Special" along with rapper Drake, R&B singer NeYo, and Train at the end of the month.

The actress has had a life altering year and dropped dozens of pounds to go from a size 16 to a size 6. Hudson first showed off a slimmer figure in April when she starred in a Weight Watchers campaign. She announced her engagement to David Otunga in 2008 and in 2009 gave birth to their son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., who is her first child.

Hudson won an Academy Award for her performance in the 2006 film "Dreamgirls", for which she actually worked to pack on an extra 20 lbs. She also starred in the first Sex and the City movie in 2008.
