LOS ANGELES --Brace yourself for extra long lines at the post office. Monday is projected to be the busiest mailing and shipping day of the year.The U.S. Postal Service estimates it will handle 800 million pieces of mail as customers send cards and packages meant to arrive before Christmas.
That's about 40 percent more than the average daily volume.
The postmaster general says items dropped off by Tuesday will make it in time for Christmas.
