Bret Michaels is engaged to Kristi Gibson, the mother of his two daughters, after dating on and off for 16 years while maintaining his wild rock star lifestyle.
Michaels, 47, was seen proposing to Gibson, 39, on the finale of his VH1 reality show "Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It", which aired on Monday.
But Michaels, the lead singer of the rock band Poison, may be better known for another series on the network - "Rock of Love", a dating series similar to "The Bachelor" that aired three seasons between 2007 and 2009 and saw him partying and appearing to be intimate with a variety of women, including band groupies.
When Michaels is not touring or working, he lives in Arizona with Gibson and their daughters Raine, 10 and Jorja, 5. When he filmed "Rock of Love", the status of Michael's relationship with Gibson was not confirmed. He is said to have dated the three winners of the show and remains friends with them as well as several runners-up.
In April, Michaels suffered a brain hemorrhage, following by a stroke. While he was being treated for the latter, doctors found a hole in his heart, which they plan to close via surgery in January.
"After the hemorrhage - when I thought it was all over, everything came into perspective,'' Michaels told The Miami Herald in October. "It wasn't my life flashing before my eyes; I just got very thankful. A great thing came from a disastrous situation."
