Neil Patrick Harris says he feels bad for badmouthing Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless", for not reprising a guest role on his comedy series "How I Met Your Mother".
Braeden had in 2008 appeared on the show as the father of Robin. Harris plays Barney, her party-loving on again, off again boyfriend.
"Eric Braeden is a D-Bag,' Harris wrote last week on his Twitter page. "The actor, (Robin's dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn't 'substantial' enough'. We've recast with Ray Wise, a fantastic actor who makes any part 'substantial'. Super excited to welcome him to the family!"
Braeden said in a statement to Deadline.com at the time that he had pulled out of his appearance in part because of exhaustion, adding that he was "not aware of what they wanted me to do until the day before." Harris, he said, should "enjoy his success and count his blessings and save his money."
Harris said hours later he "felt bad for the D-bag comment," adding: "Don't know the guy personally. I'm just fiercely protective of our show".
