Taylor Momsen, who plays rebellious Jenny on "Gossip Girl", was booed at a recent performance with her rock band The Pretty Reckless for saying Glasgow is in England.
The city is located in Scotland, which, like England, is part of the United Kingdom. Many residents of Scotland support the centuries-old cause of restoring Scottish independence, which was made famous in the 1999 film "Braveheart" with Mel Gibson.
"We are The Pretty Reckless and we have heard that Glasgow is the craziest crowd in all of England," Momsen, 17, said during a concert in Glasgow on December 13.
The crowd was then heard booing. Momsen later apologized, saying on her Twitter page: "Glasgow, I love you, I now HAVE to tour SCOTLAND (haha, sorry bout the slip up!)"
It has not been an easy year for Momsen. Her "Gossip Girl" character was banished from New York, where the show takes place, and the actress, who has starred on the teen drama series since 2007, has been featured on fewer episodes this season.
Recently, it was revealed Momsen was dropped last year by modeling agency IMG, E! Newssaid, adding that the company has since signed "Twilight" actress Dakota Fanning.
Prior to starring on "Gossip Girl", Momsen played Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film "'How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and the president's daughter in the 2002 movie "Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams".Check out Taylor Momsen's "Glasgow" slip-up" from The Pretty Reckless' December 13 concert below.
