Harrison Ford's spokesperson has denied a recent online rumor that said the actor wants his famed Indiana Jones character to be killed off in the next sequel.

The 68-year-old actor played the adventurer in all four films in the hit franchise, including the most recent one, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", which was released in 2008 and also starred Shia LaBeouf.

A recent Showbiz Spy report had said director Steven Spielberg is "considering" an idea by Ford to have Jones die and pass on his hat to his son. Ford's spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com: "This is misinformation - it's completely false."

The article has since been removed.

Ford has, however, said that he thinks his "Star Wars" character, Han Solo, should have died in the final film of the first trilogy, "Return of the Jedi". He made his comments in a video interview with ABC News last month.

"As a character he was not so interesting to me," Ford had said. "I thought he should have died in the last one, just to give it some bottom. George (Lucas) didn't think there was any future in dead Han toys."
