Natalie Portman is pregnant and engaged to Benjamin Millepied, a ballet dancer and choreographer and French knight who starred with her in the thriller "Black Swan".
This will be the 29-year-old actress' first child. Her spokesperson confirmed the news to OnTheRedCarpet.com. She and Millepied, 33, have been linked together as early as late 2009 and met last spring while filming the movie, which is currently out in theaters.
"I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience," Portman told Entertainment Weekly magazine.
Millepied was born in France and has danced as the principle dancer with the New York City Ballet. He has choreographed several productions and was one of the choreographers of "Black Swan". Earlier this year, he was made a Chevalier, or knight, in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.
He told Details magazine that he volunteered himself for a part in "Black Swan" as Kunis and Portman's dance partner, saying: "I really, really got into it. I was blown away - especially by Natalie, who was amazing to watch.
"Black Swan" sees Portman playing a troubled ballerina who deals with a manipulative dance master and a rival dancer, played by Mila Kunis. Both trained for months and lost about 20 pounds each for their roles, which earned them Golden Globe Award nominations. They have since gained it back.
Portman has said her parents were supportive while she was filming the part, which sees her sharing a sex scene with Kunis, but that some parts were tough for her mother to watch. Portman also said that starring in "Black Swan" fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a dancer.
