LeAnn Rimes and actor Eddie Cibrian are finally engaged after being linked together for more than a year, during which they were often criticized for beginning their relationship while being married to other people.
A wedding date has not yet been announced. Rimes, 28, said she and Cibrian, 37, became engaged on December 24 - Christmas Eve.
"For those who haven't read, Eddie and I got engaged over the holidays," Rimes said on her Twitter page. "That's the news. It's for real this tine and the first time EVER! We are extremely excited and look forward to a beautiful future. It's been an incredible last few days, I was shocked!!! We are blessed, our families are so happy and our lives are filled with loves. The ring is beautiful, man is better. :)"
Rimes told ABC News in November that she does not regret cheating on ex-husband Dean Sheremet with Cibrian, who she met while filming the 2009 Lifetime movie "Northern Lights."
She was married to Sheremet between 2002 and June of this year. They have no children. Rimes congratulated him on his own engagement Saturday last month.
Cibrian moved in with Rimes over the summer and in October, finalized his own divorce from model Brandi Glanville, the mother of his two sons, who are aged 3 and 7.
"There is a time and a place to explain to little one's and we plan on doing it in the most positive, fun way possible," Rimes said on her Twitter page. "They know we're already family. We've always made that very clear. A piece of paper doesn't make a family, the intention of the heart does and our intentions of us as a family have always been there. The kids know they are loved and wanted by us and their mommy."
Rimes and Cibrian had fended off engagement rumors in recent months following a Twitter photo the actor posted in late October that showed Rimes covering her mouth while he gets down in a mock proposal. The singer later said it was a Halloween joke.
