Chris Hemsworth, star of the upcoming superhero movie "Thor," recently married Elsa Pataky, a Spanish actress who starred in "Snakes on a Plane".
Hemsworth, a 27-year-old Australian actor who played James Kirk's father in the 2009 movie "Star Trek," and Pataky, 34, wed over the past Christmas holiday, his spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com.
The actors stepped out together in September at an event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art but have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye.
Pataky played Maria, a woman who traveled with her baby on the ill-fated plane trip seen in "Snakes on a Plane," a 2006 action movie starring Samuel L. Jackson. She also appears in the upcoming fifth installment of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, called "Fast Five," which is set for release in April 2011.
Natalie Portman, who plays Hemsworth's love interest in "Thor," announced on Monday that she is pregnant and engaged to her "Black Swan" costar, French ballet dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied.
"Thor" is set to hit theaters in May 2011. Hemsworth is also set to play the role in "The Avengers," which features an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. It is due for release in May 2012.
Hemsworth, the older brother of Miley Cyrus' on-again, off-again actor-boyfriend Liam, also recently finished filming his part in a remake of the 1984 war movie "Red Dawn," which depicts a group of teenagers trying to save their town from Russian and Chinese invaders. The new film hits theaters in 2011.
