Electronic pickpockets target credit cards

New technology is allowing electronic pickpockets to pass by someone with a scanner and obtain all their credit card info.

New technology allows pickpockets to steal your information without touching you.An electronic pickpocket can simply pass by someone, with a scanner in tow, and obtain all their credit or debit card information.

The scanners can be used to pick up on radio frequency identification (RFID) chips which emit a radio signal similar to a bar code.

U.S. passports issued since 2006 are also at risk because they contain RFID technology.

Experts say aluminum foil can block such scanners.

Carrying two RFID cards also helps because their signals will cancel each other out.
