Son saves blind mom from burning Indiana home

INDIANAPOLIS Stella Jones, 79, said she heard a loud noise and felt intense heat as she was lying in her bed Tuesday morning.

She immediately called for her son, William Jones, who was sleeping in the next room.

That's when he noticed sparks shooting from an electrical outlet.

Jones put his mother in her wheelchair and took her outside.

Another family member, Kevin Bonds, who lives across the street, also came to the rescue.

"She's everything to me. You know that's my everything, and every time I think of that I thank God because I'm blessed to still have her here with me today," said Bonds.

Stella Jones lost most of her belongings in the fire. Fire investigators believe electrical problems may have been the cause of the blaze.
