Plans to have Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki from MTV's raunchy reality show "Jersey Shore," put inside a ball and dropped into Times Square on New Year's Eve to ring in 2011 have been canceled, although she promises to perform the stunt elsewhere.

The event was originally set to take place alongside the official ball drop that takes place on the annual New Year's Eve celebration and as part of MTV's "New Year's Bash" special, which will also see her fellow cast members leading the crowd in a collective fist pump to try to break a Guinness world record.

Polizzi will be dropped inside a ball in New Jersey instead, People magazine said.

Don't worry, I'm still gonna be your fricken' NYE hamster ina ball," Polizzi said on her Twitter page. "I wish NYC would focus on digging out @MattyKTalent in Queens instead of worrying about where I'm gonna drop it!"

Representatives for MTV had no immediate comment on the Times Square event cancellation.

"The request to have her in a separate ball on a set-back roof came too late and was too impractical to fit in to our outdoor events," a spokesperson for the Times Square New Year's Eve event told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

"Jersey Shore" is one of the most popular reality shows and depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes".

Polizzi, a 23-year-old who is known for her bright, skimpy outfits and loud voice, made headlines in September when she pleaded guilty to interfering with "the public's right to find enjoyment " while acting drunk on a beach in July during a "Jersey Shore" shoot. She was fined about $500 and ordered by a judge, who called her a "Lindsay Lohan wannabe", to serve one day of community service.

Polizzi said she didn't remember much of the arrest and later said she thought the comparison to Lohan, who completed stints in jail for a 2007 DUI and cocaine possession case, was unfair.

In October, Polizzi was parodied on the satirical animated comedy show "South Park" as a rat-like creature, which was dressed in a skimpy top and fuzzy slippers and scarfed down pickles and a pina colada. She called the episode "beyond amazing".

Polizzi also stirred controversy last year after the posting of an internet video that showed her getting punched in the face by a 24-year-old high school gym teacher during a confrontation at a bar. Her father has said he found it difficult to understand why audiences were drawn to his daughter's wild antics.
