Man sets woman on fire in Hawaiian Gardens

Authorities are searching for a man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire in Hawaiian Gardens on Saturday night.Authorities said the man doused his girlfriend with some kind of flammable liquid, set her on fire and fled the scene. The reason behind the incident was unknown.

Firefighters responded to a call of a burn victim in the 11800 block of Civic Center Drive just after 9:30 p.m.

Authorities said the woman, identified by friends and relatives as Maribel Rebolledo, was listed in critical condition with second and third degree burns to 60 percent of her body.

"She looked really bad," said Lupe Nunez, who called 911. "It's mostly her face that is all burned. Her face and her upper body."

There were no further details available.
