OTRC: Lindsay Lohan quotes Gandhi in New Year's Day tweet

In October 2010, a judge ordered Lindsay Lohan to return to rehab instead of jail for a failed drug test.

Just days before her scheduled release from rehab, Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to vow for a better future.

The 24-year-old actress quoted Mahatma Gandhi in a tweet on New Year's Day.

"Today is the first day of the rest of my life 'The future depends on what we do in the present.' -Mahatma Gandhi... One step at a time," she tweeted .

Lohan is set to leave the Betty Ford Center on Tuesday, where she has been undergoing court-mandated rehab stemming from a 2007 drunken driving and drug possession case.

Her father, Michael, reportedly said Lohan will move into a new home in Los Angeles.

Earlier this month, a Betty Ford Center technician accused Lindsay Lohan of attacking her after allegedly refusing to take a breathalyzer test. A criminal battery investigation was opened and the actress was named as a suspect, but no arrests were made.

The technician was later fired after speaking to the press. She has since retracted her comments and said that the complaint would be dropped.
