MI school lists words to leave behind in 2010

DETROIT Lake Superior State University is out with its List of Words to be banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.

Fourteen words made the list including "viral" a word often used when talking about popular Internet video.

Sarah Palin's made-up word "refudiate," a merger of refute and repudiate, was also on the list.

The university also flunked using the word "fail" when talking about people's foibles.

Also, they'd rather not hear the word "epic" when discussing mundane events.

The words were picked from more than 1,000 nominations.
