Kim Kardashian says she does not find herself as "sexy as everyone thinks" and is "a lot more insecure than people would assume."
Kardashian, a 30-year-old Los Angeles socialite, has become a contemporary sex icon due to the success of her reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," a much-publicized sex tape with then-boyfriend, R&B singer Ray J, and many revealing photo spreads, including a 2007 nude shoot for Playboy.
It's definitely powerful," Kardashian told Glamour magazine, when asked by guest interviewer and television personality Katie Couric how she felt about being a sex symbol. "I don't find myself as sexy as everyone thinks," she added. "I'm a lot more insecure than people would assume, but with stupid little things. When I get dressed, I'm always so indecisive."
Kardashian has often been the butt of celebrity jokes due to her curvy figure. She told Glamour that she was once insecure about her body, adding: "I remember I would sit in the bathtub, and I would put a hot washcloth on my boobs and think, 'Please, Lord, just please, I don't want to grow any bigger.'"
"I would cry," she added. "My mom would say, 'You are going to love this one day.' And she was like, 'You're Armenian. Look at all your aunts. They're super curvy, and this is your family. This is who you are.' We were raised around all of our Armenian cousins, and I know a lot about the culture. So I think that made me confident in who I am."
Kardashian and her sister recently filmed the E! reality show "Kourtney and Kim take New York," a spin-off of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." The series debuts on January 23. It was recently reported their sister Khloe and her husband, Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Lamar Odom, may receive their own reality show as well, although the franchise's production companies have not commented.
