4 pursuit suspects caught by CHP in South LA

Calif. Highway Patrol officers were in high-speed pursuit of four burglary suspects Tuesday.Officers were in high-speed pursuit of a gold-colored SUV on the southbound 5 Freeway, with speeds reaching 100 mph. The SUV then led officers onto the southbound 110 Fwy.

There were four people including the driver in the vehicle.

The pursuit led through the Sun Valley area and past Griffith Park on the southbound 5.

The pursuit began approximately 2:30 p.m.

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies received a report of a burglary in progress in Castaic at 2:26 p.m. A person at the home heard the suspects entering the home and left the residence, went to a neighbor's house and called police.

Sheriff's deputies arrived and gave chase to the fleeing suspect vehicle. The CHP took over the pursuit.

After driving on the southbound 5 through the Valley, the vehicle switched to the southbound 110.

Units managed to stop the SUV on a surface street in South L.A. One of the suspects fled the vehicle and ran into the surrounding neighborhood. Deputies gave chase on foot.

The suspect was apprehended nearby trying to vault a gate. Deputies and at least one LAPD K-9 officer subdued the suspect.

Four suspects were taken into custody by 3:10 p.m.
