DNA helps nab suspect in '03 sex assault case

A Long Beach man was arrested for a 2003 sexual assault after DNA evidence linked him to the cold case crime.Sylvester Gene Rawls was arrested Monday at his Long Beach home. Police tracked down the 45-year-old using genetic evidence found at the original crime scene.

The attack took place at Redondo Union High School. The case remained unsolved despite an extensive investigation.

Rawls is being held on $250,000 bail. He faces arraignment on Wednesday.
