Bathroom peeper sought at Riverside college

RIVERSIDE, Calif. The alleged incident took place in a campus building known as the "Quadrangle" Jan. 5 around 7:20 p.m.

A female student walked into the bathroom by herself and entered one of the stalls. She then heard a sound and saw a cellular phone appear beneath one of the stall walls. It appeared that someone was trying to use that phone to take a picture of the student form the next stall over.

The student ran out of the bathroom and waited for the suspect to leave. She then got a description of the alleged peeper, returned to class and alerted campus police.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5 feet 11 inches tall and 170 pounds with long, messy hair pulled back into a partial ponytail.

Police believe this was an isolated incident on campus as they've only received one such report. However, they are warning students to be careful.

"I don't imagine things like that happening here because I feel safe when I'm here. There's a lot of faculty walking around and just regular students. I don't see that. I'm kind of freaked out," said student Melina Pulido.

"Anytime we have a person that's reported in a restroom, it's alarming so we're very concerned about it and we take it very seriously. We do have extra police officers that are specifically on foot patrol now, checking around the area of restrooms during the nighttime hours," said Riverside Community College District Police Department Chief Jim Miyashiro.

If you have any information about this incident, you're urged to contact the Riverside Community College District Police Department at (951) 222-8171.
