Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend have reportedly ended their relationship after meeting five years ago on the set of the film "Pride & Prejudice."
The 25-year-old British actress, also known for her role as Elizabeth in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, and Friend, 29, have not commented.
"Yes, they have broken up," it quoted Knightley's father Will as saying. "But that's the way things go, unfortunately," he said. "The only option is to get on with things. They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She's focused on her work."
Knightley and Friend had shared a London home and broke up a few months ago after the actress bought a house in the South of France, outside Nice, People magazine reported.
In "Pride & Prejudice," based on the Jane Austen novel, Knightley played Elizabeth Bennet while Friend portrated Mr. Wickham, the nemesis of her love interest, Mr. Darcy.
Knightley starred in three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies and can be seen in the new film "Never Let Me Go" with Carey Mulligan and "Spider-Man" actor Andrew Garfield.
She also recently filmed the movie "A Dangerous Method," which tells of the relationship between Carl Jung, played by Michael Fassbender, and Sigmund Freud, portrayed by Viggo Mortensen of "Lord of the Rings" fame, and how they help give birth to psychoanalysis.
