Water usage may have to go down in Moorpark

MOORPARK, Calif. Last month, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors rejected a request by Ventura County Waterworks District No. 1 to raise water rates by 10 percent.

The Ventura County Star reports that the Water and Sanitation Department said if current revenues stay the same, there would be a more than $9 million deficit over the next three years, and the agency would then have to stop all water operations by 2014.

The report said one recommendation is to implement water rationing this year.

The issue is expected to be discussed at the Jan. 25 board of supervisors meeting.
