Steve Buscemi won the Golden Globe Award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama" on Sunday for his role as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson in the HBO show "Boardwalk Empire," marking the actor's first win and second nomination.

He beat Hugh Laurie of "House M.D.," Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad," Michael C. Hall of "Dexter" and Jon Hamm of "Mad Men."

"Boardwalk Empire" began airing last year and tells of Thompson's life as the ruler of Atlantic City, which is inhabited by both politicians and gangsters. The show has received three Golden Globe Award nods.
