Jane Lynch won the Golden Globe Award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television" on Sunday for her role as the villain Sue Sylvester role in the FOX musical comedy series "Glee," marking her first win and second nomination.
She beat Hope Davis of "The Special Relationship," Kelly MacDonald of "Boardwalk Empire," Julia Stiles of "Dexter" and Sofia Vergara of "Modern Family."
"Thank you Ryan Murphy for this big, fat present," Lynch said during her acceptance speech, referring to the show's creator.
"Glee" began in 2009 and depicts the lives of the misfits and popular kids in a high school glee club. The students perform contemporary top 40 music as well as older tracks and songs from musicals and the show has featured guest stars such as Britney Spears and film actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Lynch won an Emmy for her role on "Glee" in 2010. The show has been nominated for a Golden Globe nine times and is also up for a Grammy nod this year.Chris Colfer, who plays glee club member Kurt, won a Golden Globe for his role earlier on Sunday.
