Jane Lynch won the Golden Globe Award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television" on Sunday for her role as the villain Sue Sylvester.

"The diva of the show is not Lea, it's Jane Lynch," creator Ryan Murphy said backstage after the ceremony, referring to cast member Lea Michele, who plays glee club star Rachel Berry.

"Glee" began in 2009 and depicts the lives of the misfits and popular kids in a high school glee club. The students perform contemporary top 40 music as well as older tracks and songs from musicals and the show has featured guest stars such as Britney Spears and film actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
