Jenny Lewis sent the web buzzing on Monday as searches skyrocketed for the indie rock singer who had the distinction of being Jake Gyllenhaal's date to the Golden Globes on Sunday.Lewis, who has released several albums with the band Rilo Kiley as well as a few solo efforts, dated Gyllenhaal back in 2001, according to People magazine.
The 35-year-old dabbled in acting when she was younger with roles in "Troop Beverly Hills" and "The Wizard" with Fred Savage. According to the magazine, she has remained friendly with the 30-year-old actor since their split.
Lewis is currently dating Jonathan Rice, another musician, and the two released an album as Jenny & Johnny called "I'm Having Fun Now" last year.
Gyllenhaal recently split with 21-year-old country singer Taylor Swift at the beginning of January. The couple spent Thanksgiving weekend together, cozying up with maple lattes in Brooklyn and attending a taping of "Saturday Night Live."
But the two celebrated their December birthdays apart after breaking up last month and have not been seen publicly since December 9, People magazine said, adding that they also rang in the new year separately, with Swift in Nashville and Gyllenhaal in New York.
Gyllenhaal split from Reese Witherspoon around November 2009 after dating for nearly three years. Witherspoon announced her engagement to agent Jim Toth this December.
