Kat Von D and Jesse James, Sandra Bullock's ex-husband, have become engaged after dating for the past few months.
Von D, 28, and James, the 41-year-old CEO of custom motorcycle manufacturer West Coast Choppers, stepped out together in early September at the red carpet opening of her Wonderland gallery in Los Angeles (see above video). She told reporters she was in love with him.
"I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day," James told People magazine. "My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a (expletive) blast!"
Bullock had divorced James in June amid reports he had cheated on her, which he has confirmed. The actress has not commented on the engagement.
Von D wrote to James on her Twitter page on Wednesday: "Tu eres el dueño de mi Corazon," which translates to "You are the owner of my heart."
"They say True love will always shine through," James Tweeted on January 13. "The only reason I started Twitter again? so I could publicly profess my love for @thekatvond."
Speculation that James and Von D had split in late fall of 2010 arose after Von D was spotted hanging out with male friends without James. The two have remained out of the public eye during the last couple of months and he moved from Los Angeles to Texas.
Asked if she will move to Austin to be with him, Von D told People: "If only it were that easy. Having two places we call home will be good for now. In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart's with him."
Von D, whose real name is Katherine Drachenberg, is a Mexican native who was born to Argentinian parents. She grew up in Southern California and was married to tattoo artist Oliver Peck from 2003 to 2007. She was previously linked to rocker Nikki Sixx and the two reportedly dated from about 2008 to early 2010.Von D has said she does not mind critics of her relationship with James and told OnTheRedCarpet.com in September: "People are going to say whatever they're going to say. They've criticized every relationship I've ever been in."
