Female pedestrian killed in S. LA hit-and-run

SOUTH LOS ANGELES According to the /*California Highway Patrol*/, a pickup truck traveling westbound on Figueroa Street hit the woman and fled the scene at about 10:40 p.m. Friday.

The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim was not immediately released.

The driver was described as a Hispanic man with a beard and the suspect vehicle was described as a beige or gray Ford F-150. Authorities said the truck may have front end damage.

CHP said the driver may have headed eastbound on Gage Avenue from Figueroa to the 110 Freeway.
