Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher's new movie, "No Strings Attached" took the number one spot in the box office this week, with an estimated $7.3 million after its opening on Friday January 21, 2011.
The Paramount flick, which was directed by Ivan Reitman, beat out "The Green Hornet" and "The Dilemma," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In the romantic comedy, Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher's characters enter into a relationship based on sex, with 'no strings attached,' but things get complicated when one of them wants more.
"These are the kinds of movies that I want to see," Portman recently told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "They're entertaining, you get in the movie theater and you go for a ride. This one is obviously funny and 'Black Swan' is not funny at all. But I think it's got that same sort of... you get your bang for your buck, literally."
Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher admit that he had nearly retired from the romantic comedy genre until he read the script for "No Strings Attached."
Pregnant and recently engaged, Portman took home a Golden Globe award last week for her work in "The Black Swan," which continues to bring in money in theaters, earning an estimated $79.1 million.
