Robbers fatally shoot clerk in head in LB

LONG BEACH, Calif. Police responded to a shots fired call at P&B Liquor Jr. Market in the 1900 block of East Fourth Street about 7:50 p.m. and discovered the wounded man.

He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police said he was shot during a robbery by two suspects.

"He worked hard," said the store's owner, Ompop Mannil. "He's the only one that worked in his family. He had a young daughter in high school right now.

According to Mannil, he had worked at the store for about 15 years.

Mannil said his store has been robbed before but it's never ended in a deadly shooting or violence.

Police are reviewing store footage to see if the two suspects were caught on camera.
