The victim, Phouam Sor, a 53-year-old resident of Long Beach, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The shop's owner said Sor was an invaluable employee who worked hard for his family.
On Sunday, customers who knew Sor went by to leave flowers and balloons in his memory.
"He was a real nice guy," said Ronald Pryor, a customer who knew Sor. "If you didn't have any money, he would let you come back and pay at a later time. He was really down to Earth. I can't say anything but nice things about him."
The store owner said they have been robbed before but it's never ended in a deadly shooting or violently.
The suspects are described as two male Hispanics wearing dark clothing.
It's still unclear if the suspects got away with any money.
