A woman accused of snatching a baby from a New York hospital in 1987 has been held without bail on kidnapping chargesAnn Pettway of North Carolina didn't say a word during her five-minute appearance in federal court on Monday in Manhattan.
According to the FBI, Pettway, 49, confessed to taking a newborn girl in 1987 from Harlem Hospital. She raised the girl as her own.
Pettway last lived in Raleigh, N.C. She surrendered to Connecticut authorities on Sunday, just days after a widely publicized reunion between the child she raised and her biological mother.
