"Jersey Shore," MTV's raunchy reality series that has turned cast members such as Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi into household names, has been renewed for a fourth season, which will be filmed in Italy in the spring and air later this year.
The series depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes" and its third season premiere, which aired earlier this month, was watched by more than 8.4 million people, marking the cable network's most watched series telecast.
"Poised to get their G.T.L. on abroad, ready to drop in on Vinny's family for a famous Guadagnino dinner and excited to trade gorillas for Italian stallions, this wacky and dysfunctional family is about to turn 'The Beautiful country' upside down," MTV said in a statement.
"GTL" stands for "Gym, Tan, Laundry," which constitutes the activities "Jersey Shore" stars typically engage in regularly.
In December, MTV announced that it signed a deal with DelVecchio to star in his own spin-off series.
495 Productions, which produces "Jersey Shore", shot a pilot for DelVecchio's new show in September.
