A new study out of Denmark found a strong association between exposure to loud traffic noise and stroke risks for elderly people 65 years or older.

Researchers found that for every 10 decibels or more of road noise, an older adult's risk of having a stroke increased by 27 percent.

The study did not determine how road noise influences health, but researchers believe stress is a likely factor.
