The documentary features 18-year-old Brandon van Ingen, who has been institutionalized since he was 5.
He believes he is dangerous and uses a leash to tie himself to a wall every time a caretaker enters his room.
But his mother believes doctors have brainwashed him.
The hospital is refusing to comment, but in a statement doctors said they are working in accordance with Dutch law.
Now the health ministry in the Netherlands says it's re-examining the treatment of psychiatric patients.
