Amy Poehler told Jimmy Kimmel about the return of "Parks and Recreation," her new son Abel and the embarrassing modeling pictures which recently emerged on the internet on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday January 26, 2011.
The 39-year-old actress admit to posing for the photos when she was in her twenties and "broke."
"In my twenties, to make money, we used to either give blood, for real," Poehler told Kimmel. "Or we would this thing in Chicago where they dress you up like someone and take your picture, you know those weird pictures that they put in when you buy a picture frame? That's the weird stuff that comes in it."
Poehler laughed when she first saw the photos, but jokingly says that she regrets that they weren't more flattering.
"What's such a bummer is that when other actresses get their old modeling pictures on the internet, they're really young and sexy," Poehler said. "And I look like a sociopath who's going to smother a man with a pillow. I was probably like, 28, if you ever had any doubt about my late bloomer-hood, take a look at that. I don't think I wore makeup or anything, I was just like, let's just do it!"
Poehler, who's been married to "Arrested Development" actor Will Arnett since 2003, gave birth to the couple's second son, Abel on August 6, 2010. Their first son, Archibald, was born in October 2008.
As previously reported, Tumblr blogger Franny Glass recently found the royalty-free pictures of Poehler posing in a candy striper outfit, while searching for the term "volunteer" in the Getty Images stock photo database.
Poehler is known as a sketch comic-turned-actress. In the 1990s, she studied and performed with comedy troupes at Second City, Improv Olympics and Upright Citizen's Brigade. She later went on to star in shows such as "Undeclared" and joined "Saturday Night Live" in 2001. She also appeared in the movies "Mean Girls" and "Baby Mama."
In "Parks and Recreation," Poehler stars as Deputy Director of the Parks and Recreation department, Leslie Knope. The show's third season returned to NBC at 9:30 p.m. ET on January 20, 2011.
